Assistant Professor in Residence
Max Valentín Staller, PhD
Center for Computational Biology, UC Berkeley
Max’s lab experience began with Sean Connolly and Jorge Benach at Stony Brook University. Max graduated from Princeton University with a major in Molecular Biology and a minor in Quantitative and Computational Biology, completing a senior thesis with David Botstein. Max completed graduate studies in the Systems Biology program at Harvard University, where he worked with Angela DePace. Max pursued his postdoctoral work at Washington University in St. Louis working with Barak Cohen and Rohit Pappu. Outside of lab, Max enjoys hiking, skiing and cooking.
Caitlin Carmody
Caitlin is a Postdoc investigating the functional effects of variants of uncertain significance in activation domains of autism associated transcription factors. Caitlin loves artificial frosting and celcius.
Aditya Udupa
Aditya is a PhD candidate in MCB. In his free time, he enjoys drinking smoothies and playing basketball.
Marissa Zintel
Marissa is a PhD student in MCB interested in synthetic activation domains in yeast. Marissa loves strawberries and climbing. She is also unequivocally the best pickleball player in the lab.
Scarleth Chalen Ulloa
Scarleth is a PhD student in MCB studying serine rich activation domains. She is the only lab member able to keep a plant alive.
Claire LeBlanc
Claire is a PhD student in CCB studying activation domain evolution in yeast. She enjoys running and thinks that Lilo and Stich is the best movie ever.
Sanjana Kotha
Sanjana is junior specialist in the lab, studying ASD variants of uncertain significance in TFs. Sanjana is the only lab member to have won the Ticketmaster war and attended the Eras tour.
Emily Chase
Emily graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology. She is studying activation domains in yeast.
Darren Kahan
Darren is a PhD student in Biophysics at UC Berkeley, working with Susan Marqusee.
Vinson Fan
Vinson is a PhD student in MCB in the Tjian-Darzacq group.
